After learning about encyclopedia and wikipedia, the pro and cons of each type of the resources are:
The informations are not accurate. Any one can edit the webpage and give wrong information about the topic but still it is little bit useful to use it as the background informations. I found 2 print encyclopedias on my topic. I went to the library webpage and type homosexual an encyclopedia. I collect the call number and searched in the refrence section. I found one E-encyclopedias on my topic. I went to library webpage and went to references and facts. I  typed "gay people and social acceptance" and I found it. I think encyclopedia is more appropriate for my research presentation becuase they are little bit accurate than wikipedia.

  1. Hi Anu,

Thank you for your post on encyclopedia and Wikipedia entries. You forgot to put a title on this post!

How do you know that the encyclopedia entry on your topic is more appropriate than the Wikipedia topic? Could you give some evidence as to why?

I look forward to your response.

    Sincerely,

  2. Hi Rachel,
The encyclopedia is more accurtae then wikipedia because encyclopedias were written by some well educated scholars though they did not mention their authors. Wikipedias can be written by random people who has only basic knowledge anout the topic. Wikipedia can spread nonsense informations becuase people can write what ever they like. if there are some people who are against of LGBT population then they will write against those population. However, this is not possible in encyclpedias.
    Thank You

  3. Hi Anu,

    I am reviewing your response...

If we don't know who the encyclopedia authors are, then how can we assume that they are scholars? Conversely, if we do not know who the Wikipedia authors are, does this mean that they are not scholars?

Was the Wikipedia entry that you found about gay people biased against gay people? I look forward to your response.

    Sincerely,
    Professor Wexelbaum
